Don Doherty to Speak at National Pharmaceutical Symposium

Brainstage announced today that Dr. Donald Doherty, its CSO and founder, will be presenting at the Laboratory Informatics Conference in San Francisco California on April 2nd, 2008.  The presentation is entitled, "Knowledge Frontier Management: Using the Semantic Web to Accelerate Research, Discovery, and Translation at the Laboratory Bench".

"Effective laboratory practice ultimately results in building and expanding comprehension at the knowledge frontier," said Dr. Doherty. "The bench scientist must 1) absorb existing knowledge, 2) design and execute experiments, 3) collect new data, and 4) place the new results in context with the existing knowledge.  This is a time consuming and inefficient process using traditional research tools.

This presentation will help bench scientists learn how harnessing the power of the Semantic Web can provide drug researchers 1) instant insight into existing knowledge, 2) in-silico tests of “what-if” scenarios, 3) automated annotation of newly acquired data, and 4) automated integration of new data with the existing body of knowledge. Knowledge frontier management tools like the Web-based Brainstage platform enable scientists to integrate the real-time data flow from around the world with daily work processes at the laboratory bench.

About Brainstage

Brainstage provides a Web-based platform that helps pharmaceutical and drug research companies accelerate the drug selection process, reduce the cost of preclinical and clinical studies, and increase the overall chance of success.  Brainstage’s platform tools give instant insight into new discoveries by tapping into the real-time data flow from around the world to synthesize meaningful relationships, create visual representations, and integrate them into daily work processes.  For more information, visit http://www.brainstage.com.
